made from the mid-1950s until the 1970s. Hammer also produced science fiction, thrillers and Film Noir. During its most successful years, Hammer dominated the horror film market.

Hammer’s elegant and erotic interpretation of Bram Stoker’s Dracula was an even bigger success than The Curse of Frankenstein. Christopher Lee starred as the vampire, opposite Peter Cushing as Van Hesling.

In 1969 Hammer cast Madeline in the role of ‘Dolly’, a prostitute in a brothel scene dominated by an extra-ordinary snake-charming sequence in Taste The Blood Of Dracula (1969). Less than three months later she was asked to appear as ‘Emma Morton’ in The Vampire Lovers (1970) with Ingrid Pitt, Hammers most sexually explicit film to date.

Ursula Andress ‘the world’s most beautiful woman’ was the star of hammer’s 1965 epic and most expensive to date ‘She’. Cast as the supernatural Ayesha – She Who Must Be Obeyed Ursula possessed an imperious presence. To help promote the film Ursula posed nude in Playboy.
